Medical billers and coders play a vital role in the connection between healthcare providers, patients and insurance companies. As a medical biller and coder, you will read patient charts to determine medical history, including diagnoses and treatment, and follow established medical codes to transcribe patient history into a type of “shorthand” used by both healthcare providers and insurance companies. This 120-hour course covers medical terminology with anatomy and physiology and the medical vocabulary system. You will learn the International Classification of Diseases, Current Procedural Terminology and Healthcare Common Procedures Coding System codes that are essential for working with medical records, patient billing, insurance forms, procedures and admitting. You will also gain knowledge of the health insurance industry, legal and regulatory issues, and differences in reimbursement methodologies.
Tuition does include the certification exam.
