Whether you work on or around energized equipment and machinery, understanding the concepts associated with lock out and tag out is crucial to maintaining a safe working environment. When machines or equipment are being prepared for service or maintenance, they often contain some form of hazardous energy that can cause harm to people in the area. This energy could be chemical, electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic or thermal. During servicing or maintenance of equipment, the unexpected start-up or release of this stored energy can result in serious injury or death to workers. This course will teach you the basics of energy control procedures and how to identify safety devices associated with these procedures.
